Former Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn has strongly condemned the killing of Turkish American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.

In an interview with Anadolu, Corbyn emphasized that Eygi's death last Friday during a peaceful protest highlights the brutal reality of Israel's military actions in the region.

Eygi, a 26-year-old human rights activist, was fatally shot while participating in a demonstration supporting Palestinians. Despite medical efforts, she died from her injuries on Sept. 6.

Corbyn highlighted Eygi's dedication to exposing the realities of life under Israeli occupation and its army bombardment, describing her as a courageous and intelligent woman.

He urged that her legacy be honored by stepping up efforts to end the conflict, including halting arms supplies to Israel.

The Labour leader also noted that Israel's military aggression has extended from Gaza to the West Bank, and he called on Israel to withdraw from both territories, arguing that this is essential for the rights of Palestinians seeking to live in peace.

Commenting on the International Criminal Court's (ICC) process of issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, he pointed out that the court views Israel's actions as potential genocide.

He emphasized the moral and legal support for the Palestinian cause, stressing the international political backing for Palestinians.

Corbyn concluded his remarks by calling on the UK and US governments to cease arms supplies to Israel and advocating for justice for the Palestinian people.

The Turkish diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem coordinated the transfer of Eygi's body from Tel Aviv to Baku before the final journey to Türkiye.

Türkiye on Thursday launched an investigation into her killing under domestic law.
