Extinction Rebellion activists to stage weeklong protests to draw attention to biodiversity, food supply security
BERLIN
German climate activists met Wednesday in Berlin for a weeklong protest to draw attention to biodiversity and the security of the food supply.
Extinction Rebellion activists set up a protest camp in Invaliden Park in front of the Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and urged other environmentalist groups to join.
They pitched tents and hung banners with slogans such as: “A Better World is Possible”, “Delay means Death” and “Capitalism kills us.”
Activists are planning to stage various demonstrations throughout the week as well as civil disobedience actions around government buildings and parliament.
The group is demanding that the Gerkar government declare a “biodiversity emergency” and accept measures to be decided by representative citizen councils to solve the energy and environment crises.
