Sales to foreigners down by 26.2% to 2,257 in August, reveals Turkish Statistical Institute

ISTANBUL

House sales in Türkiye rose by 9.9% in August on a yearly basis to 134,155 units, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) revealed on Tuesday.

Istanbul took the lion's share from overall house sales with 19,467 units, the capital Ankara followed it with 12,496 and Aegean city Izmir with 7,044.

House sales to foreigners went down by 26.2% in August year-on-year to 2,257.

"In August, the most house sales by nationality were made to citizens of Russia with 381, Iran with 171 and Ukraine with 161," TurkStat said.

In January-August period, house sales increased by 1.1% versus the same period of the previous year to 806,317 units.

In January-August period, house sales to foreigners decreased by 40% to 15,068 units.
