BAGHDAD

Two rockets landed on Monday inside the Erbil International Airport, which has a military base for US-led international coalition forces, the Counter-Terrorism Service in Iraq's northern Kurdish region said.

According to the Kurdish service, two rockets landed, while another crossed over it. "The losses were not immediately clear," it said.

Witnesses told Anadolu Agency that "a rock fell in the Bakhtiari neighborhood near the airport."

This is the second attack of its kind in the last six months, as unidentified assailants targeted the airport in September with six rockets. There were no casualties.

Authorities in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region had accused the Hashd al-Shaabi or Popular Mobilization Forces militia for the attack.
