Turkish prefabricated housing company Karmod on Wednesday said it started a steel construction housing project in Lisbon, Portugal, as part of its ongoing expansion across Europe.

The housing project, featuring Karmod's steel construction home type, began its on-site installation in Lisbon.

Karmod's Southern Europe Coordinator Erdem Demirci said the company has worked on housing projects in nine European nations implementing their safe steel construction home model.

“Steel houses stand out in European countries as a preferred choice for luxury villa-type homes due to their production quality and quick assembly,” Demirci said.

“Our steel housing projects across Europe are primarily luxury villas. With our production quality and installation advantages, we provide rapid building solutions for individual home preferences,” he added.

The company said it aims to complete the assembly of the 224 square meter steel house in Portugal in 29 days.

Demirci also emphasized that Karmod's steel homes are set to gain greater recognition in Europe for their building safety and insulation performance.

“We design the structural safety calculations of our homes according to the construction regulations of the country where they will be used,” he said, adding that the company has operations in several European countries including Spain, Portugal, and France.

“Similarly, we apply insulation criteria based on the values accepted by each country. By combining our structural safety and insulation applications with our rapid production and installation advantages, we are positioning Karmod as a leading brand in steel housing in Europe,” he added.

The current project in Portugal consists of a 224 square meter, 4+1 type home. The house's pre-production was finished in three days at Karmod's plant in Istanbul's Tuzla district and sent to Lisbon via sea. Karmod's assembly crew is carrying out the on-site installation.
