A 21-year-old man in the UK who was arrested in 2021 for planning to kill Queen Elizabeth II, was inspired by the Star Wars movie, and he ​​​​​​​planned to create a new empire to destroy the one in Britain, a court heard Wednesday.

Jaswant Singh Chail who was arrested on the grounds of Windsor Castle on Dec. 25, 2021, carrying a crossbow, admitted to a charge under the Treason Act and to making threats to kill and possessing an offensive weapon.

The court heard that the former supermarket worker from Southampton in southern England was inspired by an AI "chat bot" in a "Star Wars-inspired" plot to kill the queen, a court heard.

Chail was initially detained under the Mental Health Act, and remains in custody.

In video shown to the court, the Windsor Castle intruder was dressed in all black, wearing a mask and holding a crossbow.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what I've done and what I will do," he said to the camera.

Chail is expected to be sentenced on the second day of his trial Thursday.
