Nasdaq, S&P end 3-day losing streak as US stocks close mixed

Nasdaq jumps 220 points, or 1.26%; Nvidia shares soar 6.76% after losing almost 13% in last 3 days

ISTANBUL

The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 closed in the green to end their three-day losing streak as US stocks finished Tuesday on a mixed note.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq jumped 220 points, or 1.26%, to end the session at 17,717. The S&P 500 rose 21 points, or 0.39%, to 5,469.

The Dow Jones, on the other hand, was down 299 points, or 0.72%, to 39,112 at the final bell.

After losing almost 13% in the last three days, Nvidia shares soared 6.76%.

The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 3.15% to 12.91. The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.43% to 4.231%.

The dollar index increased 0.12% to 105.60, while the euro shed 0.15% to $1.0716 against the greenback.

Precious metals were in negative territory, with gold losing 0.6% to $2,320 and silver falling 2.3% to $28.90.

Oil prices were down around 1%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $84.21 and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $80.82.
