ANKARA

Newcomer from Turkish team Galatasaray, Kerem Akturkoglu, netted in his debut Liga Portugal match as Benfica defeated Santa Clara 4-1 on Saturday.

The Turkish international scored the first goal for Benfica in the 27th minute with the Portuguese side, after Santa Clara's Vinicius bought the lead to his team in the first minute at Estadio da Luz.

Florentino made it 2-1 for Benfica in the 34th minute and teammate Antonio Silva scored one in the 47th minute.

Argentine veteran Angel Di Maria made the final score 4-1 with his goal in the 58th minute.

Sporting CP is atop the league standings with 15 points in five matches, while Famalicao are second and Benfica are in the third spot, both with 10 points each.
