LONDON

Storm Lilian has caused significant disruption across parts of England, Wales, and Scotland, bringing with it severe travel delays, flooding, and power outages.

The storm, which swept across the country with wind gusts exceeding 70 mph, has left thousands of homes without power and caused widespread travel chaos.

In the north-east of England, train services have been severely disrupted, leaving commuters stranded and travel plans in disarray.

The storm's powerful winds also caused extensive damage to overhead power lines, resulting in widespread power outages.

The impact of Storm Lilian extended beyond power outages. British Airways was forced to cancel 14 flights scheduled to depart from Heathrow Airport on Friday.

The cancellations affected international flights to Italy, Switzerland, and the US, as well as domestic flights to Scotland and Northern Ireland. The airline also reported delays on several other flights.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain in parts of south-east England for Saturday morning.

Forecasters have warned that the region can expect "spells of rain, heavy at times, likely to cause some travel disruption and perhaps flooding in a few places."

As Storm Lilian continues to move across the UK, authorities are urging people to remain cautious and prepared for further disruption.
