Turkic Council education ministers meet in Istanbul for 6th meeting

Officials get together ahead of 8th Turkic Council summit, when Turkey will take over term presidency

ANKARA

The sixth meeting of education ministers of Turkic Council's member states, and the fourth gathering of International Turkic Academy will be held in Istanbul on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

The education-themed gatherings will first be attended by senior state officials, and the ministers will exchange views the next day.

Besides the ministers, Turkic Council Secretary-General Baghdad Amreyev, International Turkic Academy head Darkhan Kydyrali and Hungarian Consul General Laszlo Keller are also expected to participate.

Turkish Education Minister Mahmut Ozer will moderate the events, and also hold bilateral talks with his counterparts.

According to Turkey's National Education Ministry, the 8th Turkic Council summit is scheduled to be held in Istanbul on Nov. 12, and will be hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Turkey will take over the term presidency at the event.

The Turkic Council was formed in 2009 to promote cooperation among Turkic speaking states. It consists of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan as member countries, and Hungary as an observer state.
