ANKARA

Türkiye's benchmark stock index finished Wednesday at 9,419.66 points, plunging 2.12% from previous close.

After starting the day at 9,610.01 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 204.38 points with a daily transaction volume of 79 billion liras ($2.33 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,542.75, while Brent crude oil sold for around $70.53 per barrel as of 6.53 p.m. local time (1553GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 33.9989, the euro/lira exchange rate 37.4456, and the British pound traded at 44.2944 liras.
