Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan reaffirm their commitment to Afghanistan people
Regional security largely related to developments in Afghanistan, say Uzbek, Turkmen leaders
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan
Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan reaffirmed their commitment to the people of Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirzioyev and his Turkmen counterpart, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a news conference where they commented about developments in Afghanistan following a meeting in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent.
Mirzioyev stressed that regional security and stability largely depend on developments in Afghanistan.
“As such, we are committed to providing any kind of help to the people of Afghanistan for restoration of long-term peace and stability in their country,” he remarked.
Berdimuhamedov noted that Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan share similar positions about Afghanistan.
The consensus between the two countries presents an important contribution to normalizing the political situation and re-establishment of the social space in Afghanistan and its incorporation to regional and global economic orders, he added.
