Britain's maritime agency reported two fresh incidents Tuesday off the coast of Al Hudaydah in western Yemen.

In a statement, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said it received a report of an incident 63 nautical miles (116 kilometers) southwest of Al Hudaydah.

A ship's captain reported "an explosion a distance from the vessel," it added.

A small craft was observed in the vicinity acting suspiciously and flashing lights towards the vessel,” it said.

The agency also reported another explosion in close proximity to the vessel.

“The vessel was attacked by an uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) which was successfully disabled," it said.

The vessel and the crew are reportedly safe.

Yemen's Houthi group is yet to comment on the incident.

The Red Sea is one of the world's most frequently used sea routes for oil and fuel shipments.

The Houthis have been targeting Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been under an Israeli onslaught since Oct. 7 last year.

Earlier this year, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a multinational mission, Operation Prosperity Guardian, to counter Houthi attacks.
